Bye Bye Bill Callahan - Thanks, Colorado, or sealing the fate of our coach. Seriously, thanks.
Nebraska lost to Colordo in only the second time in seven visits to Boulder as the CU Buffaloes made great second half adjustments to erase an 11 point deficit and romp to a 65-51 victory over Nebraska.
Fortunately, ABC cut away from the last 2 minutes of the game, and Callahan's coaching career at Nebraska. It would have been nice to see the final TD by NU this year, but also to watch Bill waltz off the field, counting his severance package. Please leave now.
The Corhnuskers momentum of the first half, scoring 35 points, was squashed in the third as the CU Buff defense forced two interceptions thrown by Joe Ganz, one returned for a TD. In addition, NU suffered their first punk block of the season, due to a high snap.
After CU pulled away, Ganz kept trying and did make two late TD passes to Maurice Purify, but it was too little, too late, but those two players can't be faulted for quitting. Watch for Mo on Sundays.
With the win, Colorado will probably receive a bowl invitation, and for the Huskers, the loss is number seven, against five wins, so it will be no bowlin' this year. Thanks, Bill! Way to go, Coach!
Saturday morning, Coach Callahan spent a total of 15 minutes at the office where he was handed his walking papers. Sure, his buyout could total over 3 million bucks, but his ship has sailed. Bye Bye Bill...
